This isn’t very Halloween-ish or Video Game related BUT it is exciting. I haven’t posted anything really riveting in a while because, between work and planning I’ve been a little busy… You see… At 10 am tomorrow me and my brother will be on a plane to Peru! Well, we have a stop over in Miami first but after! PERU!
Hopefully one of the first stops will be Machu Picchu (the image above) I’ve seen it in magazines since I was a child and I’m actually going!
Wish me luck! Seeya in 3 weeks!
Does anyone remember the Pokegod rumors? I sure as shit do. It’s pretty vivid. I was on the playground, watching a few friends trade Pokemon on red and blue when I over heard a group of younger kids say something about Pokegods. We made fun of them because it sounded silly (we were kids) but after school i immediately looked it up on the internet.
When dial-up internet was the way to go and fangame websites weren’t a quarter a dozen, the naivety of new information onlookers was at an all time high… I was one of these onlookers. All this information! Why would it be fake! I’m looking at a screenshot right now!
…it has to be real!
Above are pictures comparing the old Pokegods rumor to the current Pokemon X,Y Mega Pokemon evolutions. It’s obvious there is no connection between the two, but it’s awesome to imagine. It seems so far-fetched now, but at the time I was convinced it was true that there were Pokegods!
I’m just glad I lived long enough to see the legend come true… well, almost…
Mewthree, Alenkar - the Pokemon factory
Spooky - Digit Aria
Charcolt, Rainer, Sapsaur - Chanchimi
Mega Alakazam - Tomycase
Gameboy Yoshi - Karite Kita Neko
On the topic of things I’ve always wanted to do…
I recently acquired a Centipede arcade cabinet! It needs a little TLC but for 150 shmammers, I’m pretty happy. The game it plays now is ‘Crime City’ but it can be replaced. Although, I don’t really want to replace it. I’ve beaten the game with a few people already and it’s quite fun game.
Every time you unplug the game it resets all the high scores so I’ll be posting them here!

PS: a possible fun fact about this game… I haven’t done the research 100% yet, but it looks as though the coin slot counters became detached some time ago. I don’t know when the counters seized but the numbers are pretty wicked. 1st player slot is at 035207 and second player slot is at 028096. In dollars, I’m pretty sure that’s a grand total of 15825.75$ spent on this machine in it’s life time.
For 150 shmammers, I’m pretty happy.
Recently I did something in gaming I’ve always wanted to do… SO Ima share it with you peoples. (Dark photos, Combo of getting the screen to show and crap light)
There’s an amazing game series out there known as Goemon. It’s hardly known around our parts but in Japan it’s probably as big as Sonic the hedgehog or Mario… There’s been a few American releases but the large majority of the Goemon games were only released in Japan. Games on systems like Gameboy, N64, PS2, NES, the DS. Tons of them! There are 4 for the SNES alone, not including spin off games on the SNES.
My friend’s parents picked up the American release of the 2nd Goemon game for the N64. It was in a bargain bin so they grabbed it not knowing what it was. We never played it much as kids because it was very… different than an average game you’d play. Very Japanese. Over time it became our favorite. 5 kids would take turns rocking out 2 players. After the first boss battle I, personally, was hooked. IMPACT!!! I Researched all the other games and tried to find as many as I could. That’s when I stumbled across the 4 for the SNES. These games where really tailored for a gamer like myself. I vowed one day I would find them all and beat them. Well folks. I did it! I beat all 4! Each game kept the same principles as the last but they all felt different. It took me a long time and there were bits where I didn’t really understand what people were saying… but It was absolutely awesome!
If you haven’t had the pleasure, check out any of the SNES or N64 Goemon games. They take a little getting used too but the graphics are awesome on both and the giant robot Impact boss battles are Epic! EPIC!
So it turns out we had some of our stuff turned off… Including replies and questions! Jeez!
So it’s going to be on from now on. Ask us anything! If it’s for the white kid, ask Cary and the brown one, ask Perry. Don’t be shy we’re not!
First and foremost, I think this game looks fantastic!
With all the new videos of game play going around the interwebs, a few things started to jump out at me. Little familiar looking things. All the pictures above are tiny similarities I’ve noticed between Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario Bros. 2. I’m not trying to say that Super Mario 3D World could be a sequel or anything. I think Nintendo is just re-visiting some of their past concepts.
The first was the fact that you can play as Mario, Luigi, Toad (I suppose) and Peach. The same line up as Super Mario Bros. 2. Sure they’re all characters of Nintendo so really, it’s no biggie BUT… They all seem to have the same attributes as SMB2. Luigi can jump higher and flutter his legs to ascend slower. Peach can hover for a small amount of time and Toad is quicker. Toad's color is also blue not the typical red… Blue like in SMB2. Again, these are all known attributes of these Nintendo characters, but they’re all there! Just like SMB2!
Next was a few of the items. First, a well known block, the POW. It was in there… Not too significant. Next was the Clock. In SM3DWorld it just adds time to your timer but it reminds me of the Clock that stops time in SMB2. Finally was the Cherry Power-Up. It has nothing to do with SMB2 either (it duplicates your character each time you get one) but the Cherry was a pretty iconic item of SMB2. So now I’m thinking something is defiantly starting to line up… maybe.
So now, with the thought of SMB2 in my head, there’s the shadow parts. They began to remind me of the reverse world parts in SMB2. Silhouettes of everything. Could this be another homage too?
Finally, it was who Bowser had kidnapped that seemed to tie it all together. In the beta screenshots there was a fairy looking being that resembled the trapped Subcon fairies in SMB2. Later the design was changed, they were named Sprixies and several more were added, but there was still that resemblance. Not to mention both the Sprixies and the Subcon fairies are apparently very weak against… corks. Put them in something and pop that cork on. Shit son, that fairy’s freedom is o-ver.
This could all just be suggestive thinking though. You know how if someone says "Hey! that cloud looks like a duck!" and then you look and immediately see a duck? I think that’s what my brain did to this. I saw the 4 player layout and went right to SMB2.
Super Mario Brothers 2 sequel or not, I am very glad I bought a WiiU.
In the spirit of Halloween here are a handful of undead Super Mario enemies! oooOOOOoooo…
Ever hear the tall tale about how Boos are created? Everytime Mario looses a life… I Boo is born. That’s why they’re scared to look at Mario. Deep down inside of every boo is a fear of the life they once had…
…also, I guess an enemy spirit is yellow… Look at those glowing blank eyes.
It’s been so long since the original Fun Havers Club tumblr layout was seen… and it’s going to be longer! It’s October. You know what that means? Halloween is coming up! and along follows spooky stories, awesome costumes, parties, sweets… It’s a wonderful, weird holiday. This is why we’re shifting over to the Fun Havers… Cemetery. ooOOOOooo…
PS: with new Pokemon X and Y adventures starting, the two of us were talking about who we would choose out of the three new awesome starters. As you can tell, we’ve made our choice.
Happy Halloween everyone… Incase we forget to say it.
I’m a pretty big fan of alien/sci-fi movies. Any type. Cheesy, serious, old, new. It’s all a great display of someone’s imagination, their take on infinite possibilities in the universe. What does this have to do with video games? you shout dramatically. I’ll tell you.
The other night I found myself glued to this gem of a movie. Above is a comparison between "Sphere" 1998, Starring Dustin Hoffman, Mace Windu, Wolverine’s brother, Sharon Stone… AND the last boss of Pikmin 3. You may notice something similar… that I have blatantly pointed out. Both share the wavy, golden, reflective design. You see? It’s curious. Only,…the final boss of Pikmin 3 has more than one shape and shares nothing really more than that in common with the Sphere.Even though, I think someone at Nintendo was a fan of this movie. Hence the similarity between the two.
